GB News fans tore in to Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy as he was drowned out by boos and chants of “shame on you” while addressing mourners at a vigil outside a Manchester synagogue. The deputy prime minister was met with jeers the moment he was introduced. Shouts of “you hate Jews” and “go to Palestine — leave us alone” echoed from the crowd, forcing Lammy to pause his remarks several times. Chants of “off, off, off” rang out as the politician struggled to make himself heard.
At one stage the shouting grew so loud he was forced to stop altogether, with people muttering: “It’s too late,” in response to his promises to help protect the Jewish community. The anger spilled onto social media, where GB News viewers piled in with scathing attacks. One branded him “disgusting” while others slammed his message as an insult to the Jewish community. “He turns his back on his own literally. How disgusting.” Another fumed: “Deserved. He has persistently fostered a climate of hostility towards Jews in the UK.”

Some praised the defiance of the hecklers. “So proud of the Jews for letting the administration know that they’re not buying it anymore. Enough is enough. Well done,” one wrote.
Another blasted: “Starmer is an utter coward for refusing to face the rage himself and sending out Lammy, the Cabinet Minister with the least credibility worldwide, is an effing insult.”
There was also shock at how far tensions had escalated. “Jewish are some of the most calm, tolerant and reticent people on the planet. For them to heckle in this way tells its own story,” a viewer said.
Another added: “I’m not sure non-Jews appreciate how p****d off we have to be to get to a point where the Deputy Prime Minister is heckled.
For British Jews this is about as insurrectionist as we get. Of course, our respect for law and order are precisely why the authorities have treated us so shoddily, whilst bending over backwards to appease other communities where heckling would be the least of it.”
He said: “The Labour government have rewarded the terrorism. They’ve allowed hate on our streets. They’ve allowed hate on our campuses. You allow it to grow, and that was the result yesterday. My daughter’s school is shut for security reasons. Is this really the life we’ve got to live in Britain?”
The fury erupted in the wake of the Manchester synagogue attack, in which Adrian Daulby, 53, and Melvin Cravitz, 66, were killed.
Police confirmed Daulby and another victim were struck by a bullet fired by an officer. The attacker, Jihad al-Shamie, was shot dead by police, with reports revealing his father had praised the October 7 atrocities in Israel.
Rabbi Daniel Walker described the Yom Kippur assault as a “desecration.” Meanwhile, pro-Palestinian activists have vowed to press ahead with a planned demonstration in London tomorrow.
