The latest appeal comes days after police issued an e-fit image of a man they would like to identify following a sexual assault at Gants Hill Undergound station in London. The attack took place shortly before 4pm on Sunday, August 17.

Police said the unknown offender attacked the woman at the station before running onto a train heading towards Stratford in east London. The force is now urging anyone with relevant information on what happened to get in touch as soon as possible.

DS Gough, of British Transport Police, said in a public appeal: “Unfortunately CCTV footage of the incident was unavailable in this particular case, so we are releasing an E-fit of a person we would like to speak to in connection.

“We believe that the man may have information which could help our investigation and urge anyone who recognises him to get in touch.”

The police force added: “Anyone with information is asked to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 349 of 17 August. You can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
