A well-known drinks retailer in Harrogate, best known for the popular Slingsby Gin brand, has entered administration. Spirit of Harrogate Limited, which is based in the town and operates from its premises on Montpellier Parade, has appointed Lewis Business Recovery & Insolvency to oversee the administration process. Gareth Lewis and Matthew Russell have been named as the joint administrators. Founded in 2014, the company has faced increasing pressure in recent years amid challenging trading conditions affecting the hospitality and drinks industry.

The business was founded by local entrepreneurs Marcus Black and Mike Carthy and employs five members of staff. It has established a strong reputation both locally and nationally for its Slingsby Gin product range.
Spirit of Harrogate quickly became a familiar presence on Harrogate’s high street, blending retail with immersive gin experiences and helping to put the town on the map within the UK’s growing craft spirits sector.
The administrators have confirmed that the business and its assets are now being actively marketed for sale as a going concern, with the aim of safeguarding jobs and securing the best possible outcome for creditors, Harrogate Advertiser reported.
Potential purchasers are being invited to come forward.
