This tasty fruit is one you might not add to your shopping basket every week, but it’s one that could have major health benefits. The tropical fruit can be bought at your local supermarket and is often referred to as the “king of the fruits” in some parts of the world. This tasty fruit is native to India and Southeast Asia, but you can easily buy it all year round in the UK.

Mangoes are packed with nutrients and make a great addition to your breakfast or a great snack. Healthline says: “Studies link mango and its nutrients to several health benefits, such as improved immunity and digestive health. Some polyphenols found in the fruit might even lower the risk of certain cancers.”

Mango is a good source of immune-boosting nutrients, says Healthline. It adds that one cup of mango provides 10% of your daily vitamin A needs which are essential for a healthy immune system.

The same amount of mango also provides nearly 67% of your daily vitamin C needs. “This vitamin can help your body produce more disease-fighting white blood cells, help these cells work more effectively, and improve your skin’s defenses,” says Healthline.

If you want to eat more mango, you can easily add this item to your diet as a standalone snack.

But, if you want to be creative, you can add it to a smoothie or you can even create a chutney with it.

To make a mango smoothie, you will need mango (frozen or fresh), banana, water, milk, ice and lemon juice.

Along with boosting your immune system, mangoes can also have another unexpected health benefit.

Health says: “Along with vitamin C, mangoes also boast beta-carotene, an antioxidant that helps promote eye health.

“Additionally, the antioxidants lutein and zeaxanthin, which are carotenoids found in mangoes, help your eyes in several ways.”

If you’re looking for a new healthy snack, mangoes could be the perfect item to introduce to your diet.
