TalkTV erupted into a vicious Labour row on-air as presenter Alex Phillips slammed Ed Miliband for his Net Zero policies. Speaking via video call to Conservative MP Mark Francois, Alex blasted Miliband’s strategy and branded him a “nutter” in an explosive rant.
Kicking off the conversation, Alex said: “I think someone who’s just straight out of care and probably should be straitjacketed and sent back to the nearest mental institute [would] know that the Net Zero minister is going to hell in a handcart and taking the country with him. But after everything going on he just seems to think that the UK needs to save the world at the expense of, guess what, the UK.”
Mark responded: “Just to back up what you’ve said, if you look at global emissions, by definition it’s a global problem. The UK’s responsible for approximately 1% of total global emissions. If you compare us to China, depending on which analyst you believe, they’re responsible for about 30-35% – so call it a third for cash.

“The other major emitters are the US, India and Brazil. So even if we were to close down the entire British economy and barely emit anything at all, that would still barely scratch the problem of overall global warming.”
He added: “That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t, in a British way, do our bit, but it certainly does mean we shouldn’t sacrifice all of our heavy industry in this country because Ed Miliband is, you put it one way, I’ll just call him a zealot.”

Alex chimed in to agree, blasting: “Yeah, zealot, nutter, potato potat-oh. It seems to me that this ridiculous Labour government and the statistics you mentioned there, China being approximately responsible for a third of global emissions, that’s because they’re churning out CO2 making all the Net Zero paraphernalia that this government are writing a blank charity check to Beijing for giving us!
“They are obsessed with China doing this job for them and China are rubbing their hands together in glee going, ‘Great, you’re destroying your own economy and building ours’”.
Mark agreed: “It’s worse than that because as part of their economic development China are still opening at least one new coal fired power station a month. Some months they open two. We’re being given virtue lectures by Miliband about how we should put on a hair shirt. It’s a sick vanity project by Labour!”
