Stuttering Rachel Reeves leaves GMB viewers furious as they rage: ‘Yet another U-turn!’

Rachel Reeves was questioned on Good Morning Britain.

Chancellor Rachel Reeves was left furiously defending her decision of scrapping the two-child limit on benefits as she appeared on Good Morning Britain on Thursday, January 8. ITV’s Louisa James was questioned by Ranvir Singh as they opened up the show while Ranvir addressed the “division” on the policy. Louisa explained that it’s divided a lot of MPs including Conservatives and Reform UK who both stated they would not be in favour of the new legislation.

After Nigel Farage had stated it would encourage people to have more children and not work, Louisa stated that Reeves had told the presenters that it was untrue. Reeves explained that she doesn’t want her children going to school with other kids who have “not had a proper breakfast”. But as she explained her points, users in the comment section on X became frustrated.

Reeves continued: “I don’t want my kids going to school with kids who are sleeping in a cold and damp home. The majority of people who will benefit from that come from working families. That is one of the myths that these are families where no one is going out to work. No, far from it.

“Many of these families people are working incredibly hard but because of the cost of living, are still struggling to make ends meet.”

Reeves also discussed the changes to the pubs as she addressed the struggle and stated she wants to support them and the high street and declared that they are “working with them” to share support.

Users in the comments rushed to share their thoughts as one user wrote: “These are the things the nation should vote on as its meaning higher taxes to pay for it all. This affects every single working person in the country.”

Another wrote: “I don’t agree with this at all. It’s my tax money they’re using to fund this and nobody asked my permission.”

A third user fumed: “Another U turn. Shame the government can’t magic up billions for everything else! They’re robbing Peter to pay Paul.” While a fourth raged: “I didn’t see this once in the Labour manifesto. They don’t care about anyone but themselves.”

The bill to end the cap will be formally introduced into Parliament today (January 8).
