Starmer’s Labour is imploding – snap election is now real possibility and Reform are ready

Even Lib Dem leader Ed Davey has joined calls for an emergency election if Starmer can’t pull his government together

The pressure on Sir Keir Starmer mounts daily. Unsurprisingly Reform boss Nigel Farage is seizing this moment to ready for government, with a shadow team set to be revealed amid warnings a snap election could be in the offing. Even Lib Dem leader Sir Ed Davey has joined demands for the PM to call an election if he can’t get his party’s act together. As Sir Keir’s chief of staff and press chief exit amid Mandelson gate, the Blairite project seems to be imploding.

The Labour Left held its nose to win power. Corbynism, they were told, was unelectable. Yet it seems Starmerism is ungovernable and could yet bring about the Left’s nightmare of a Reform government. Worse still, the Greens are fast displacing Labour as Reform displaces the Tories on the Right.

Reform – despite warnings of ‘peak Farage’ – has generally seen its poll numbers increase so far this year. Who would have imagined the British people actually wants a party in power which gets serious about illegal immigration, and law and order? Stands back in shock!

As for the hapless Tories, who would ever in a gazillion years trust a party which botched Brexit, caused the ‘Boriswave’ of mass immigration, stuffed contractors and freelancers, increased the national debt and did nothing to fix our woeful productivity?

Sir Keir won’t go without a fight and, to be fair, he led his party to a landslide 18 months ago. But since then, his Blairite project has imploded. Scandal and infighting engulf Labour, with the Left sore about broken promises and a Green Party stealing a march on Sir Keir and co.

The one thing Sir Ed and Farage likely agree on is we need an election now. Britain surely cannot endure another three-and-a-half years of this nonsense! Bring on May and bring on a new broom in Number 10!
