Four people have died after a plane crashed just after take-off at Southend Airport on Sunday., it has been reported. Essex Police previously said all emergency services attended the scene of the incident involving one plane at about 4pm, shortly after the aircraft had taken off.
Reports claim flight tracking data suggests the plane that crashed was a Beech B200 Super King Air bound for Lelystad, in the Netherlands, although this has not been confirmed by police.
The Press Association news agency said it understands that there were four fatalities. Police have not confirmed any casualties.
The force, which will be holding a press conference at 3pm hosted by Ch Supt Morgan Cronin and London Southend Airport chief executive Jude Winstanley, said in its latest update: “Our officers are working with all emergency services for a second day at Southend Airport.
“We are sure everyone understands this will be an incredibly complex and sensitive situation, so please bear with us while we carry out this investigation.
“You can still share any information with us through our Major Incident Public Portal, or by calling our dedicated phone lines”, the force added, providing a link to the portal.
Zeusch Aviation, the operator of the aircraft, said in a statement: “We can confirm that Zeusch Aviation flight SUZ1 was involved in an accident today at London Southend Airport.
“We are actively supporting the authorities with the investigation and will provide updates on this page as more information becomes available.

“Our thoughts are with everyone who has been affected,” the Dutch firm added.
According to witnesses, the crash caused a “huge fireball.” Dani Hill, who lives near the airport, said: “I saw the huge fireball from my window. I’m still shaking like mad. I’ve never seen anything like it. Praying all involved are ok if any.”
A spokesperson for the airport said: “Our thoughts are with those affected by today’s events and all passengers impacted by this disruption.
“We will restart flight operations as soon as possible and will continue to update the public on developments.”
Textron Aviation, owner of the Beechcraft brand that produces Beech B200 Super King Airs, has been approached for comment.
David Burton-Sampson, MP for Southend West & Leigh, put out a statement on X following the crash, saying: “I am aware of an incident at Southend Airport.
“Please keep away and allow the emergency services to do their work. My thoughts are with everyone involved.”
