Several areas of the UK could be hit by snow again at the end of this month. Blizzards could soon bring more Arctic weather in the UK with some areas told to expect up to 50cm of snow and freezing -13C.
Recent weather maps issued by WXCharts.com say that Scotland, the north west of England, part of the south west of England, and Wales could be hit by snow at up to 10mm/hour on Thursday, January 29. This would reflect in up to 30cm of snow in some areas of England, including Manchester, Blackpool, Birmingham and the Midlands, but also Bristol, and some parts of Somerset, Devon, and London.
Other northern areas of the country, like the north of Scotland, already badly hit by Storm Goretti, could see up to 50cm of snow, while the north west of England, according to the same maps, could see up to 23cm.

Temperatures are set to drop, and in parts of Scotland this could mean a freezing -13C. In the rest of the country, temperatures are also likely to drop to -4C.
The Met Office has also indicated the possibility of further snowfall before the month’s end. Their forecast for January 20 to 29 January read: “Throughout this period, the UK will see a battle between Atlantic weather systems attempting to arrive from the west while high pressure and colder conditions attempt to exert some influence from the east. Initially, milder Atlantic air is expected to dominate.
“This should maintain often cloudy, changeable conditions with showers or longer spells of rain for most. The wettest weather is in the western parts of the country, drier in the east.
“Temperatures overall likely to be around average with some night frosts in clearer areas. Later in the period, there is an increased chance that conditions will turn colder. This aspect of the forecast is still somewhat uncertain but the potential transition to colder weather also increases the chance of snow across parts of the country.”
This follows the recent ‘multi-hazard’ event, Storm Goretti, which brought winds of up to 99mph and as much as 27cm of snow to parts of the UK, even triggering a red weather warning earlier this month.
