The UK is braced for 40 hours of continuous snow next week as the weather turns cold once more. New data from forecaster WXCharts shows the weather front sweeping across the UK, engulfing towns and cities.
Weather maps show a large band of snow sweeping in from the South West on January 26, blanketing large parts of central and northern England as well as Scotland. The weather then consolidates throughout the day and remains in place over the next two days, before dissipating towards the end of the month. The weather will be accompanied by rain across much of Britain, with weather maps showing bands of yellow and orange lurking across large parts of the country throughout next week.

The snow is set to be heaviest in Scotland, with the Highlands expected to see as much as 70cm fall.
In England, Yorkshire will be hit by a heavy band of snow stretching from Yorkshire to the Midlands, with cities such as Leeds expected to see around 30cm of snow.
Separately, a Met Office forecast for Sunday to Tuesday warned of the potential risk of snow.
It said: “Remaining unsettled throughout, with bands of rain moving north and east across the country.
“Gradually turning colder from the northeast, with an increasing risk of snow, particularly over northern hills.”

The Met Office often warns about the difficulty in predicting snow more than a few days in advance.
It said: “In many temperate countries such as the UK, a small amount of snow can cause all sorts of disruption.
“But it can also be very challenging to predict. There are lots of factors involved in determining whether rain or snow will be falling from the sky, such as elevation, distance from the coast and precipitation intensity”.
The Met office added: “While much uncertainty remains into the start of next week, there’s a chance of wintry hazards at times, particularly in the north and east with the possibility of snow for some.
“With an easterly influence, cold weather, especially for those in the northeast, is on the cards with the potential for snowfall accumulations in places, though it’s too early to specify exact details.”
