The Mayor of crime-infested London shared some thoughts after picking up his gong.
Sadiq Khan is breathtakingly arrogant (Image: Getty)
Compare and contrast the following: Wigan rugby league legend Billy Boston was knighted last week and was the first competitor in the sport to break an historic “130-year milestone” to pick up the gong. His family said this genuine sporting hero was “hugely thrilled” to get the award. Meanwhile, London Mayor Sadiq Khan, whose control of the city has combined with an unchecked descent into lawlessness with rampant knife crime and escalating robberies, informed the world as he picked up his award that the King was personally “chuffed” to have been able to give him the award.
He also indicated King Charles was sorry for it “taking so long” for the mayor to be knighted. This level of arrogance takes the breath away. Any chance the mayor of this crime-infested, drug-stinking, phone-snatching city could address this as he polishes his gong?
Having calamitously given away the Chagos islands, the Government has now turned its attention to Gibraltar and seems ready to hand it over to the Spanish. We must sincerely hope they don’t spot the Falklands on the map.

Journalism and the literary world lost a giant last week with the death of Freddie Forsyth at the age of 86. Just a couple of years ago I chaired some journalists’ awards and the judges unanimously agreed to honour him a with a lifetime achievement award.
Sadly, on the day Freddie was not well enough to attend the ceremony so sent a note to read out. Candidly, rarely have I read nor said such eloquent words in my entire life. He was nothing short of a genius.
