Ruth Langsford breaks down live on air as she asks ‘can we take a break?’

Loose Women presenter Ruth Langsford struggled to keep her composure during her fashion segment on the shopping channel, QVC

Ruth Langsford struggled to keep her composure during her latest fashion segment on QVC. The Loose Women presenter left viewers in stitches after she returned to the shopping channel with a series of new garments to flog to her fans. This week, she brought along a series of blue jumpers and long-sleeved shirts as we prepare for the colder months.

But things took an unexpected turn when her co-host, Jackie Kabler, asked her about the details of one sweatshirt on the show. The innocent presenter, 59, asked: “Do you like a thumb hole?” as she looked closer at the cuffs on the jumper.

Unable to resist, Ruth poked fun at her comment, chuckling: “I thought that was a joke, then. I was like, ‘No Jacqueline, I never have done!’”

The 65-year-old broadcaster attempted to swiftly move on from the dirty joke, insisting: “No, I do like a thumb hole, actually.” But her co-host struggled to do the same as she chuckled under her breath.

This was all the ammunition Ruth needed before she broke down in hysterics live on air, with the mum-of-one attempting to hide her face with the sleeve of the jumper she was advertising.

Jackie could be heard begging her to “stop it” before she emphasised that she said, “thumb hole” and not something ruder. She chuckled: “It’s a thumb hole at the end of a sleeve, you know what I mean! What’s wrong with you?”

After the show hit the airwaves, Jackie reshared the clip online, which she captioned: “So unprofessional!!! Ask Ruth Langsford a perfectly innocent fashion-related question about a detail on a garment and this happens…”

It comes after the broadcaster admitted she “used to get really jealous” watching the connection between grandfathers and their grandchildren whilst her son Jack was growing up.

The former This Morning host, who shares Jack, 23, with her estranged husband Eamonn Holmes, 65, described how her son never had to opportunity to bond with her cherished father, Denis, before he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

Speaking exclusively about her partnership with Amazon and UK charity Dementia Carers Count, Ruth opened up about her anguish over Jack missing out on those precious moments with her late father.

The TV presenter, whose 94-year-old mother Joan s also battling Alzheimer’s, said: “I feel a great sadness, really, not so much about my mum, because my mum didn’t have Alzheimer’s [for all of Jack’s life], but Jack never knew my dad without Alzheimer’s, because I didn’t have Jack until I was in my 40s.

“My dad was just the best man, and he would have taken Jack fishing and gone sailing with him and showed him woodwork and all those things he loved to do.”
