Reform UK has suspended four councillors for bringing the party into “disrepute”. The councillors have been suspended from Kent County Council.
A Reform UK spokesman said: “Cllrs Paul Thomas, Oliver Bradshaw, Bill Barrett and Maxine Fothergill have had the whip suspended pending investigation, following evidence that they brought the party into disrepute.”
It comes after the Guardian published a video showing councillors rowing during a meeting.
The leader of the council, Linden Kemkaran, said those who leaked the footage would get kicked out.
It is not clear who leaked the clip from a meeting in August.
In the video, Ms Kemkaran said: “Because I am not a dictator or an autocrat I like feedback, I like to discuss. I like to hear what everybody thinks.
“However, when it comes to making the really big decisions, and LGR is one of those … Sometimes I will make a decision that might not be liked by everybody in the group. But I am afraid you are just going to have to f***ing suck it up.”
Ms Kemkaran went on to mute a councillor for speaking over her.
Kent County Council is one the town halls Nigel Farage‘s insurgent party won during last May’s local elections.
