Reform UK has officially overtaken Labour to become the largest party in British politics, according to total members, new leaked figures have revealed. While Nigel Farage’s party has a public counter tracking their 268,703 members and growing, Labour’s total membership has remaind a closely-guarded secret for months.
However internal figures seen by The Times has revealed that Labour has now fallen behind Reform’s number of signed up paying supporters, after an enormous collapse since the general election. Since Keir Starmer entered No. 10, his party has shed a whopping 100,000 members, leaving the party with just 250,000 total members. This means Labour’s paid up supporters have now halved since Sir Keir won its leadership contest in 2020, from a high of more than half a million under Jeremy Corbyn.
Reform UK overtook the Tories‘ membership on Boxing Day last year, who at the time had 123,000 but may have substantially fewer today.
The Green party has surged in recent months, thanks to the election of new leader Zack Polanski, however lag well behind Reform and Labour on 180,000 members.
According to figures published last August, the LibDems have around 83,000 members, ahead of Jeremy Corbyn’s Your Party’s 50,000.
Reacting to the news that he has now overtaken Labour, Mr Farage celebrated: “As we have suspected for some time, Reform is now the largest political party in British politics — a huge milestone for us. The age of two-party politics is dead.”
Lee Anderson quipped: “Size matters. It really does.”
It’s another major boost for Reform UK, which is already campaigning hard for major victories in next year’s May elections.
The party has now led in every single one of the last 150 voter intention polls, raked in more cash than all the other parties last quarter, and has gained more council by-election wins than all other parties since May.
Reform is also picking up a steady stream of defections, including former Tory MP Ben Bradley this week, and its first peer Lord Offord last weekend.
