Russia’s new “unstoppable” nuclear-capable Oreshnik missile complex that could “destroy” London has been “put on combat duty” in Belarus. Moscow boasts it could hit England’s capital “in eight minutes” from this deployment, according to Russian sources. Belarus’ defence ministry added: “This is what the ritual of the Oreshnik mobile ground-based missile system’s deployment looks like.
“The Oreshnik missile division began combat patrol missions in designated areas across our country.” The system – which will remain under the control of Vladimir Putin – “is capable of engaging targets at ranges of up to 5,000 km [3,106 miles], and can be equipped with both conventional and special warheads”.

Belarus military academy expert Andrey Bogodel said the frightening weapon showed that Moscow and Minsk would defend themselves “with fists”.
He said: “The Oreshnik isn’t a weapon with which we want to attack, for example, Britain or Germany … We, above all, will protect our peace in this way. A way that will allow us to say that it’s definitely better not to interfere with us.”
Oreshnik was deployed to Belarus, close to European Union and NATO states, on December 19, but it is now on “combat duty”.
The almost untested intermediate-range ballistic missile system puts all European capitals, including London, within range, according to Russian sources.

Belarus President and close Putin ally Aleksandr Lukashenko boasted that it will “make him strong”, despite its use being under the control of his Russian counterpart.
He said: “The strong have always been respected everywhere. That’s why we must be strong.”
Putin claims targets are incinerated as the missile unleashes a temperature of 4,000C, almost as hot as the surface of the sun, while also being nuclear capable.
He has only used the “game-changing” weapon once – in a “test” launch in November 2024 against the Ukrainian city of Dnipro. As this was done without a live warhead, it was seen as an operation aimed at scaring both Kyiv and the West.
