Nigel Farage promises to wipe out inheritance tax in bombshell pledge

Farage says Reform UK would abolish inheritance tax

The Reform leader was speaking as he attended a protest in central London against Labour’s raid on farmers.

The Clacton MP told GB News: “Inheritance tax is double taxation. People have paid tax on this already, why on Earth when they die should they be taxed again?

“We would get rid of inheritance tax. It’s a really nasty tax and it hits people at the most unpleasant part of their lives.

“They’ve just lost their parents and suddenly the taxman is after them. So we would get rid of inheritance tax.”

Mr Farage’s comments came as farmers descended on Parliament today for a Pancake Day rally against Labour’s inheritance tax raid.

The Government has imposed a rate of 20% agricultural land and businesses worth more than £1 million.

The measure, which was introduced in Chancellor Rachel Reeves’s Budget last October, has sparked a furious backlash.

Campaigners have warned that it will destroy family farms across the country.

Opposition parties including Reform and the Tories have criticised the policy, which comes into force in April 2026.

The Government has defended the move as a “fair and balanced approach”.
