Phillip Schofield was spotted grinning through the chaos as his £60,000 Jaguar was loaded onto a recovery truck following a crash in London. The former This Morning presenter, 63, looked relaxed despite the damage to his luxury car, which had a rear tyre torn up and one side badly dented. Dressed in blue jeans and a salmon polo jumper, the dad-of-two appeared in good spirits, chatting to the man who came to his rescue and watching as the vehicle was winched away.
Onlookers said Phillip was overheard cracking jokes with the recovery team and brushing off the incident with a laid-back shrug. He reportedly told them it was “only a piece of metal” and seemed surprisingly unfazed by the snag. The timing of the accident comes as his former ITV colleagues are celebrating fresh success. This Morning recently reclaimed its crown at the National Television Awards, winning Best Daytime Show after a rocky period that saw ratings wobble in the wake of Phillip’s departure.

Dermot O’Leary, who fronts the show on Fridays, pointedly referenced the difficulties the team endured when they picked up the award. He said: “There’s a team that has worked on the show since I’ve started who have had to endure an awful lot of sh**.
“And they have turned up to work every day with the greatest grace and professionalism and uncertainty, and they’ve never done anything but put their hearts and souls into this job.”
He added: “Two and a half hours of live telly every day is quite something, but to endure it under the spotlight of being on the front page of the news. This show holds a mirror up to Britain, and it also tries to entertain.”
The programme had dominated its category for 12 years straight before losing its streak in 2022. Phillip’s sudden exit the following year left ITV scrambling, after he admitted to an affair with a much younger male colleague and lying to bosses about it.
His relationship with co-star Holly Willoughby, once the backbone of This Morning, fractured in the fallout. Holly quit just months later, leaving the flagship show without permanent anchors for the first time in over a decade.
Phillip has kept a lower profile since, but last year reignited headlines by claiming he was “fired for someone else’s crime” after his brother Timothy was convicted of 11 sexual offences against a child.
Speaking on Channel 5’s Phillip Schofield: Cast Away, he insisted he had “absolutely no qualms whatsoever in shopping” his sibling to the police and claimed he had always been “open and honest with everyone at work about what was happening” with his brother.
In the final episode of the Channel 5 show, the former ITV frontman also revealed he would “never in a million years” decide to return to daytime TV.
