Moment mass brawl breaks out on Bournemouth beach – ‘Welcome to Britain!’.uk

A violent brawl erupted on Bournemouth beach, leaving holidaymakers stunned and police injured as chaos unfolded by the pier.

A sunny day at one of Britain’s most iconic seaside resorts descended into chaos as a mass brawl broke out on Bournemouth beach, leaving several police officers injured and holidaymakers stunned. Now, a week later, disturbing footage posted to social media shows topless youths hurling glass bottles and other projectiles at police officers during a violent confrontation near the town’s historic pier on June 30.

According to Dorset Police, the disorder erupted following an earlier fight in the nearby Lower Gardens, where a teenage girl sustained injuries and was rushed to hospital. What began as a local scuffle escalated into a wider melee as groups of shirtless young men clashed with officers on the sand and promenade.

Video clips circulating online capture the terrifying moment when glass shattered on the ground, while horrified families, tourists, and local residents watched on.

One witness described scenes of “bare-knuckle” fighting under the pier involving two women, while separate altercations involving multiple men unfolded nearby.

“Four police officers were assaulted,” the witness added.

The bystander filming the incident can be heard speaking to a tourist. He asked: “Does this happen in your country?” before the visitor responds. The man filming then added: “Welcome to Britain!”

At one point, an officer can be seen tackling a rioter to the ground while surrounded by a hostile crowd. In another clip, police encircle a distressed young woman screaming “no” as they attempt to detain her and a friend.

Five police officers sustained injuries during the incident, though none are reported to be seriously hurt.

Dorset Police confirmed the arrest of a 22-year-old man from Newbury on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker. He has since been released on bail.

An 18-year-old from Hackney has also been arrested on suspicion of assault, affray, and assaulting an emergency worker.

The investigation remains active, with police now releasing CCTV images of 12 individuals they are seeking to identify in connection with the brawl. Chief Superintendent Heather Dixey urged the public to help: “Our investigation into what happened on the evening of June 30 is very much ongoing.

“We are determined to identify anyone believed to be involved in the reported disorder and ensure that they are held to account.”

She added: “From our enquiries so far, we have arrested a number of people both locally and out of county and we now believe that many of those pictured had come down to Bournemouth beach for the day and do not live in Dorset.”

Locals can expect an increased police presence in the area.

“We want to ensure that our residents and visitors can all have a good, safe summer,” Dixey said.
