Horror footage show a bus engulfed in a fire, which forced a busy road shut. The fire erupted on Friday, January 16, on Ormskirk Road in Aintree.
Emergency services were rushed to Ormskirk Road in Aintree and the road has been shut from Aintree Shopping Park to Maghull, Merseyside Police said. Arriva confirmed all passengers were evacuated safely and no injuries have been reported. A spokesperson for Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said crews were called to a bus fire on Ormskirk Road, Aintree, at 11.55am. The blaze, which engulfed a single decker bus was put out by 12.15pm. Ormskirk Road has been closed heading towards switch island. and remains shut while emergency workers recover the bus.

The fire service confirmed the bus driver and all passengers were accounted for and evacuated before the bus caught fire. No injuries have been reported. Fire crews are in the process of moving vehicles to allow part of the road to open. Traffic is disrupted and motorists are urged to avoid the area.
A spokesperson for Arriva confirmed all passengers were evacuated from the bus safely. They said: “At this point, Merseyside Fire Service are dealing with it. I can confirm, it is one of our buses and that everyone was evacuated safely, with no injuries reported.”
