A major UK fashion retailer has officially appointed administrators, putting more than 100 jobs at risk. Quiz, which is a familiar brand on high streets across the country, said that 109 head office and warehouse staff were being made redundant and hundreds more jobs were at risk. Alistair McAlinden and Geoff Jacobs of Interpath were recently appointed as joint administrators to Orion Retail Limited, Tarak International Limited and Zandra Systems Limited, which collectively trade as Quiz.

The brand’s online store has shut with immediate effect. Quiz has 40 branches across the UK and seven concessions in Ireland. These will continue to operate as normal, while Quiz’s concession stores in Matalan and New Look remain unaffected. Quiz also collapsed into administration last year. Quiz employs more than 500 people in the UK. However, it confirmed 109 redundancies across its head office in Glasgow and its distribution centre in Bellshill, Lanarkshire.

Administrators said Quiz’s sales over the Christmas period were weaker than expected, and the brand has been faced with rough trading conditions over the last year.

A notice shared in The Gazette today announced that administrators had officially been appointed. Alistair McAlinden, Head of Interpath in Scotland and joint administrator, said: “With Quiz the latest retailer to fall into administration, there’s no doubt it’s been a tough start to 2026 for the UK high street.

“It’s our intention to continue to trade all stores and the concessions in Ireland as a going concern for as long as we can while we assess options for the business.”

Those who have shopped online and wish to return their items will have to do so in a Quiz store. The brand has also launched a stock clearance sale across all of its UK stores.

An online statement from the retailer said: “Customers may wish to make purchases whilst stocks are available.

“All goods purchased on or after 5th February 2026 will be ‘sold as seen’ and returns can only be accepted on the grounds that the goods are faulty.”

Geoff Jacobs added: “Any parties with an interest in acquiring the stock, store operations and infrastructure of Quiz should contact us as a matter of urgency. We are ensuring that those employees impacted by redundancy are provided with all available support at this difficult time.”

Quiz is one of a number of UK high street brands to fall into administration in the last few weeks. The Original Factory Shop, a popular discount store across the country, has also entered administration.
