Lee Anderson has delivered a blunt message to Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer after Reform UK surged past the 200,000 members – warning the Prime Minister: “We’re coming for you.”

The MP for Ashfield in Nottinghamshire did not mince his words on social media after his party hit the landmark figure on Sunday.

First he posted: on X “The fastest growing political party in the history of the UK. Just let that sink in.”:

Then he shared a message from leader Nigel Farage showing the moment the party’s membership ticker passed 200,000, commenting: “We’re coming for you @UKLabour.

“Join the People’s Army today.”

Mr Farage himself offered a near-identical verdict, posting: “We are coming for your membership total @UKLabour.”

Speaking to delegates at a regional conference in Wiltshire, the Clacton MP claimed Labour’s membership currently stood at 309,000, hailing his own party’s growth as “truly extraordinary”.

Reform UK is the successor to the Brexit Party, founded in 2019 by Mr Farage to pressure the government into delivering Brexit.

After the UK formally left the European Union, the party rebranded as Reform UK, shifting its focus to issues such as immigration, taxation, and net-zero policies.

In the July 2024 general election, Reform UK made a major breakthrough by winning five seats in the House of Commons.

Mr Farage – who had returned to the political fray to assume Reform’s leadership – was elected as MP for Clacton, his first successful bid for Parliament after failing on seven previous occasions.

Other elected Reform MPs included party chairman Richard Tice and Mr Anderson himself, previously elected as a Conservative.

Since the election, Reform UK has surged in opinion polls. One FindOutNow poll published on February 5 put the party on 29% – four points ahead of Labour – while a YouGov poll released two days earlier put the lead at one point.
