Freddy Gray reacted to Shabana Mahmood’s vow to curb visas for countries that won’t take back migrants
A GB News guest has skewered the new Home Secretary after she vowed to curb visas for countries that won’t take back migrants. Freddy Gray, deputy editor of The Spectator, reacted after Shabana Mahmood replaced Yvette Cooper in the new Cabinet reshuffle. It has been reported that Shabana is prepared to bar workers, students, and visitors from nations that do not ‘play ball’. In terms of Shabana tackling this issue, Freddy said in a brutal swipe: “It sounds like a hard ball, but after a while, the no-nonsense talk itself becomes nonsense.”
It comes after Sir Keir Starmer‘s right-hand woman, Angela Rayner, admitted that she had not paid enough stamp duty on a house she bought in Hove, East Sussex, earlier this year. This led to her resignation on Friday, which sparked a major reshuffle in the cabinet.
Shabana took over from Yvette Cooper as Home Secretary. However, Rachel Reeves has stayed in her role as Chancellor. Shabana, who is labelled a “blue Labour” social conservative, will take control of the police, MI5, and the government’s domestic policy.
Last month, the new Home Secretary announced that foreign criminals will be deported after they are sentenced to free up prison space and protect members of the public.
Yesterday on GB News, Dawn Neesom criticised the Prime Minister, arguing that solving the migrant crisis is an “almost impossible task” for Mahmood due to Keir Starmer.
After just a few days in her new role, Shabana was immediately hit with a crisis, with the number of Channel crossings this year passing 30,000 in a new record time.
Also on GB News today, former Editor of the Sunday Express David Wooding had his say on the new Home Secretary and believes Shabana Mahmood is taking on ‘the toughest job in government’ with her new role. He said: “This job is a graveyard for politicians.”
