‘Labour are destroying jobs!’ Keir Starmer torn apart on GB News with brutal statement.uk

Prime Minister Keir Starmer has been skewered on GB News ahead of the upcoming parliamentary vote on the Welfare Reform Bill.

Shadow Secretary for Work and Pensions Danny Kruger has accused Labour of “destroying jobs” with their proposed Welfare Reform Bill which Parliment are set to put to the vote on July 1. He addressed the issue while appearing on GB News Breakfast when host Eamonn Holmes asked him: “Where do the Conservatives stand on this?”

“We are spending way too much, particularly on Health and Disability benefits,” Kruger said. “The last government was successful in reducing unemployment benefit claims like getting people into work. We’ve got, especially since COVID, millions of people languishing forever for life, on long term sickness benefits, and it’s not good for them, and it’s unsustainable for the taxpayer. The problem with the government reforms is, firstly, they aeren’t actually reforming the system, and they’re destroying jobs, of course, as well. So it’s very hard to get people into work when you’re taking away the jobs they can go to.”

Kruger continued: “…They’ve caved into their back benches, we’re not getting any meaningful cuts either. So this is a very weak bill.

“They had 14 years to prepare for government. They’ve had a year in government, and we’ve now got this pathetic damp squib of a bill.

“There’s still going to be a big rebellion on it. What we’re saying is we need to see meaningful reform. We want to see the benefit bill actually come down over time, and we want to see growth in jobs, and we don’t want to see new tax rises.

“If the government can commit to those three conditions, then we will be prepared to support the middle tomorrow. But it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen,” he said.
