Keir Starmer ‘panicking’ as Nigel Farage’s Reform surges in polls, chairman warns.uk

Reform UK chairman insists Prime Minister is “panicking” about insurgent party’s rise.

Sir Keir Starmer is “panicking” because Labour is behind Reform UK in the polls, the party’s chairman Zia Yusuf has warned. Mr Yusuf highlighted how Labour is eight points behind the insurgent party in the latest YouGov poll.

He told Sunday Morning With Trevor Phillips on Sky News: “Keir Starmer is panicking because he’s well behind us now in the polls. Having won a big majority last year he’s now eight points behind in the gold standard YouGov poll.”

Mr Yusuf added:”People in this country are sick and tired that when it comes to British people, there’s always no money there but when it comes to foreign citizens, there’s always seemingly an infinite amount of money available.”

His comments come after a YouGov poll earlier this week put Reform UK on 29%, while the Prime Minister’s party is on 21%.

The Tories are third with 19%, while the Lib Dems take 15%, the Greens take 11% and the SNP is on 2%.

The Prime Minister used a major speech earlier this week to launch an attack on Reform UK leader Nigel Farage in an admission that he is his main opposition.

Mr Yusuf also defended Reform’s pledge to make £300 to £400 billion worth of cuts in public spending inside its first term.

He said: “It was an independent think tank that had come up with that number, and it’s well sourced.

“We talk about infinite money for foreign citizens, £5 billion a year and growing that is currently being spent on people who come to the country illegally and make asylum claims.

“Then you have the cost of net zero, which we calculate to be… around £45 billion.”
