Labour‘s Policing Minister Dame Diana Johnson was humiliated on LBC as she was interviewed by presenter Nick Ferrari. The TV host asked Johnson if she was able to tell him the areas in which knife-enabled robberies have fallen in England, as he asked: “Where are they then, the seven geographical areas?”

Diana replied: “So the West Midlands, and can I just do a shout out really to the Chief Constable in the West Midlands, Craig Guilford, because he’s been leading from the top. Greater Manchester, they’ve not seen such a dramatic fall, and we’re wanting to work more with them.”

She continued: “We’ve got the Metropolitan Police obviously, because there is a lot of knife crime in London. We’ve also got Avon and Somerset on our list.” She clearly began to struggle as she asked: “How many have I got up to there?”

Ferrari replied: “You’ve got four. I’m sure you know them off the top of your head?”

Johnson quickly replied: “I do, yes. You’ve got West Midlands, Greater Manchester, Avon and Somerset, the Met. Oh you’ll have to forgive me. It’s very early in the morning but I do know them.” She then began to look through her notes as she said: “I’m just going to…”

Ferrari told her: “I can hear paper rustling,” as Johnson replied: “Yes because I’ve got it in front of me with the actual…” A frustrated Nick chimed in: “You don’t think you should know this Minister?”

Johnson replied: “No, no I do know. It’s just very early in the morning, sorry,” as Nick wryly replied: “I’ve been aware of that for 22 years.”

The stuttering minister tried to continue as she said: “Right West Midlands, British Transport Police, we musn’t forget them because they’ve also had a…”

Nick gave her a hint as he told her: “I think you need to go to Yorkshire,” as Johnson said: “Is the other area… oh yes Yorkshire of course. And one more, one more, erm,” as the host chimed in: “Stay in Yorkshire.” Johnson responded: “Well it’s not Humberside and it’s not North Yorkshire, so it must be South Yorkshire.”

A clearly unimpressed Ferrari asked: “Do you think you perhaps might have known that, Minister?”

The bumbling minister admitted: “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, there’s a lot going on in my head.”
