A man was caught on camera doing the Nazi salute in Brighton
A horrifying video has been shared online showing a man doing the Nazi salute in front of people taking part in the “Sussex friends of Israel” protest.
The harrowing moment took place in Brighton on November 9 and was caught on camera by one of the attendees at the pro-Israel event.
The clip also shows multiple police officers failing to intervene after the gesture was made. The person also appeared to ‘goose step’, also in reference to the horrific Nazi regime.
Aghast at the lack of police urgency at the incident, the man behind the camera said to the police, incredulously: “He’s just done a Nazi salute in front of you, you saw that.”
He then asked: “He just did a Nazi salute goose-stepping and you did nothing? How dare you.”
Confronting a police liaison officer, the videoer yelled: “You saw that man do a Nazi salute”. The officer replied: “I’m trying to see where he’s gone.”
Another protester, who also said she saw the man doing the Nazi salute, scolded the officer: “You could have run after him.”
Sussex Police said in a statement: “We are aware of a video circulating on social media of an incident in Brighton city centre yesterday.
“It is being investigated as a hate crime, and our enquiries to identify and locate the suspect are ongoing.
“In the meantime, we would urge anyone who can assist in our investigation to report it online or call 101, quoting serial 257 of 10/11.”
