A manhunt has been launched after a young woman was stabbed in a London park on Monday night, with the attacker still at large. Police officers raced to Elthorne Park in Islington, north London, just before 9pm after being alerted to the knife attack by a member of the public.
A young woman, believed to be in her 20s, was found injured at the scene. She was treated for stab wounds before being rushed to hospital. Footage and pictures from the scene today show that a large police presence remains in place. A forensics tent has been erected to preserve evidence due to the weather conditions and a police cordon is in place.
There have yet to be any arrests and police are hunting the attacker. Locals are being warned to see an increased emergency presence in the area.
A Met Police spokesperson said: “At around 8.55pm on Monday, November 3, police responded to reports of a stabbing in Elthorne Park, Islington. Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended the scene and a woman in her 20s was treated for stab wounds.
“She was taken to hospital and we await an update on her condition. No arrests have been made at this early stage and residents can expect to see an increase in officers in the local area while enquiries continue.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact police by calling 101 or online, quoting CAD7669/03NOV. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
The London Ambulance Service also attended the scene and treated the womans stab wounds.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 8.54pm last night (November 3) to reports of a stabbing in Elthorne Park. We sent an ambulance crew, paramedics in fast response cars and an incident response officer to the scene.
“We also dispatched an advanced trauma team in car from London’s Air Ambulance. We treated a patient at the scene and took her to a major trauma centre as a priority.”
