Presenter Susanna Reid came under fire from fans of Good Morning Britain on Wednesday. The ITV star, who was hosting the show alongside Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis, welcomed Reform UK‘s Deputy Leader Richard Tice as she grilled him over recent political issues.

The breakfast show explained that Mr Tice is set to present a bill to the Commons today, enabling public appeals against prison sentences that are perceived as being too harsh or lenient. It will be called ‘Lucy’s Bill’, named after Lucy Connolly, who is serving a 31-month sentence for inciting racial hatred in a social media post after the Southport attacks. She was arrested after she urged her followers to “set fire” to hotels housing asylum seekers. But as the guest chatted to the hosts, fans at home slammed Susanna for her questioning – branding her “biased”.

Mr Tice said that the issue needed to be talked about as “if you don’t talk about stuff, then you never make improvements.” That was when Susanna erupted into a blistering rant, interjecting him to say: “Yeah, except that if you talk about it, of course, you are at risk of undermining our judicial system, aren’t you?”

One fan fumed: “@GMB Your treatment of Tice this morning was very one-sided. The whole country is behind Lucy they know it’s two tier justice read the room! No wonder no one watches GMB anymore!” Another added: “@GMB This was a politically motivated sentence and nothing to do with the legal system. Countless examples of significantly more serious crimes being treated less harshly. First offence, tweet was withdrawn, etc. She was badly advised in her plea.”

“Oh dear silly Sue you don’t need to work in the legal profession to know what too harsh or too lenient means Time to go home put your feet up dear,” someone else wrote.

However, as the interview went on, some fans picked up on a little giveaway move from Susanna as they claimed to have caught her winking at the politician. One noted: “Susanna takes off her ugly glasses and then winks at Tice..ffs #gmb.”
