GB News aired a fiery clash during Ben Leo Tonight, during which the Labour government was blasted over its handling of immigration and asylum. The broadcaster welcomed commentator Adam Brooks and ex-Labour minister Bill Rammell to discuss Prime minister Keir Starmer’s sweeping changes to net migration rules.
This comes after a new crackdown was announced, including the deportation of foreign nationals who commit any crime in the UK. It’s suggested that these fresh measures were a swift response to counter a Reform threat after the political party led by Nigel Farage had a significant rise in the polls. On GB News, Rammell stated: “I think with these changes the numbers will come down, and that will be the proof in the pudding.”

However, Brooks wasn’t convinced as he fired back: “I find that quite laughable. Actions speak louder than words.
“You do not remove legislation that makes it illegal to cross the channel on a dinghy if you’re serious about stopping that exactly happening.”
He raged: “You do not promise to get rid of migrant hotels and then suddenly sign us up to five-year contracts for hundreds more.”
As Rammell interrupted: “The Government didn’t do that,” Brooks argued: “Yes, they did.”

To which the former minister hit back: “Those contracts were signed by the previous Conservative Government, and the commitment to end hotel use was a commitment for a five-year parliament. We’ve been in government for nine months.”
Brooks raged: “Pre-election ‘we’re going to smash the gangs,’ it was all over the newspapers, that was a pre-election promise, not smash one gang, not one! You’re liars, Labour are liars.”
In their fiery clash, Rammell argued: “In your fantasy world, you think you can just say things and make it happen. The system was broken.
“Fantasy world? I’m with the majority,” claimed Brooks.
