Angela Rayner is said to be eyeing up a takeover from Keir Starmer in a bid to become Prime Minister, political correspondent Jennifer Powers has claimed. GB News hosts Anne Diamond and Mark White welcomed her onto the show to discuss her plans as Keir Starmer is away, with Mark teasing: “When Starmer’s away the plotters will play”. Powers teased that as images of Rayner and her partner emerged that they will be “plotting” her return to cabinet and hiring a moving truck to Number 10.

Anne said it was interesting to see “Angela Rayner on manoeuvers”, while Powers praised all the things she’s doing to support her potential campaign, stating she is hoping to get some “well-paid speeches”, and a memoir that is expected which she said would be “absolutely fascinating”. She added: “Very much looking to raise money for her campaign to become Prime Minister.”

Powers continued that she believes Rayner is trying to raise money to build her campaign as Prime Minister, adding: “I almost feel a bit sorry for the boys, because if Angela Rayner goes for this, which she very much has her mind on Number 10, I think it will be very hard to stop her.”

She also added that Rayner has “star power”, which host Anne responded: “She’s got something that the fellas haven’t got. There’s some oomph about her.”

Mark then added she feels “more authentic”, prompting Powers to praise her for being more relatable, adding: “I think that’s very attractive in this day and age.” But then the focus shifted to how awful the turn would be for Starmer.

Powers added: “He is in office but not in power. This is someone we barely talk about! We’re talking about the runners and riders, how much money they’re squaring away for their campaign, how many MPs they have that are willing to back their bed. He’s almost a placeholder, he’s almost an interim Prime Minister.”

Mark added that “disastrous results” were expected, but noted it was difficult to remove a Prime Minister, but while Powers said it was “possible” and Starmer is in a “disastrous place”.

Reported plots for Keir Starmer‘s place in he government has been emerging for a while, particularly after polls deemed him the most unpopular Prime Minister of all time.
