GB News was halted for a major migrant breaking news announcement in the biggest blow to Keir Starmer and Yvette Cooper yet. Andrew Pierce and Miriam Cates were hosting the news programme when they went to a live feed with Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp, who was speaking to them from a boat on the English Channel.

As he discussed the shocking loophole which means French authorities don’t have to disclose criminal records with the UK when sending migrants over in the new “one in, one out” deal, he then pointed out a French warship which could be seen live escorting a migrant vessel to Britain.

Philp said to the presenters from the boat: “I’m on the Channel and you can see behind me a French warship escorting an illegal migrant dinghy, we are just inside English waters now. Border Force vessel Typhoon is about to come and pick up the illegal immigrants that have come across.

“That is the second boat we seen this morning, so it is quite clear the government announcement yesterday is having no effect whatsoever no deterrent effect, and the French are continuing to escort these boats into UK waters.”

Andrew asked: “Chris, we’re being told as well that the French will not tell us if some of these people have a criminal record or not?”

Philp replied: “That’s right, Article 16 of the agreement says the French will not provide any personal information at all about the people being sent in the other direction to the UK, they could have criminal records, they could be terrorists, and even if the French government know that, they’re not going to tell the UK government.

“But migrants being sent in the other direction to France, the UK government will provide that information, so it’s completely asymmetric, so we’re going to have no idea who the government are going to be shipping in to the UK.”

He turned around to point out the boat behind him, as he said: “And it’s probably not going to make any difference, because as you can see behind me, there is a migrant dinghy, a French warship, and Typhoon over there, so just as we said, this deal is having no deterrent effect, because all of those people on the dinghy, 94% of them will get to stay in the UK with his arrangement, and 94% of them could make it, of course they’re going to try the crossing, which is what they’re doing now.”
