GB News host Ben Leo paused the show for a fresh breaking news announcement during his late evening segment. He said on the show: “Downing Street, in the last few hours, has reportedly admitted that Sir Keir Starmer knew there was no black hole and was told of the positive OBR forecast when it came to the budget, yet still signed off on Rachel Reeves‘ claims that tax rises were necessary to fill the fiscal gap.”
The host explained how the government had been blaming the Tories for the “black hole”, adding that according to the OBR, the claims of the black hole were “not true”. He explained that information had emerged via The Sunday Telegraph and The Mail on Sunday that Keir Starmer “knew” the black hole was “absolute BS”.
Ben added: “Pressure is mounting on not just Rachel Reeves, The Chancellor, but also on Keir Starmer himself.”

He asked: “Is it time Rachel Reeves resigned? Is it time the PM resigned? And do we need a general election?”
Later in his show Ben welcomed political commentator Benedict Spence who said the claims were an “egregious thing to have happened”, adding: “This has led to real world consequences, this would have had business implications, people would have decided whether they were going to emigrate from this country, people would have decided whether they’re going to invest, or not in this country as a result of the scaremongering.”
He added: “This is pretty disgraceful frankly, that this has been used as a cover for ideological welfare because the party is not mature enough to cut spending.”
In an absolute blow to both Reeves and Starmer, Spence added: “This is the moment where I think a lot of back-benchers should get the gumption to say ‘these two need to go’.”
They also discussed the possibility of an investigation as Spence addressed the “pain” inflicted on taxpayers and an upward trend of younger people emigrating on this country.
GB News viewers rushed to the comments on X to share their frustration as one user wrote: “In a functioning democracy this would result in the immediate requirement for a General Election.”
While another said: “How on earth can they get away with that? They took pensioners winter fuel away for nothing?”
Elsewhere, the show questioned on Sunday morning if Reeves would still be in her role by Christmas as Stephen Dixon and Anne Diamond declared it’s “crunch time” for the Prime Minister.
