On Friday afternoon (August 15), Martin Daubney returned to the airwaves for his evening show, but minutes into the programme the 55-year-old broadcaster interrupted his usual schedule to deliver the breaking news.

He announced: “A Yemeni asylum seeker being housed at the former RAF base in Essex is under investigation for alleged links to the Houthi rebel group. Our sources uncovered multiple videos and pictures allegedly showing the migrant posing with various weapons including an AK47 assault rifle back in his native country. It’s deeply alarming information coming through.”

The presenter claimed that further images show posts on the individual’s social media account that appear to indicate support for the Houthi rebels. To get a better understanding of the investigation, the broadcaster welcomed Home and Security editor Mark White onto the show.

He revealed: “One of the biggest concerns that law enforcement and the security services have is just who is coming across the English Channel. If identifying documents are thrown away, then how on earth can you actually get a proper handle on who these people are.

“Unless, of course, they’re already on criminal databases known to the security services overseas which some are but multiple others are not.”

As images and footage of the gentlemen in question flashed up on screen posing with the weapons, Mark emphasised: “Yemen is a lawless country. It is not uncommon for men in that country to go around with firearms and other lethal weapons.”

But the presenter asked what we were all thinking when he said: “The legitimate question that many people will be asking is: Is this the kind of individuals that we want here in this country, being accepted into this country and considered for asylum? Well, many would argue not.”

Later on in the show, GB News received a statement from the Home Office stating that the man in question has been initially assessed by Essex police and has now been referred to the prevent counter-extremism programme.

It read: “We are aware of this individual and have taken appropriate action. We collect biometric data of all small boat arrivals and at the start of their asylum claim, which is then cross-checked with immigration security and criminal data bases.”

It didn’t take long before viewers flooded to X – formerly known as Twitter – to share their concerns online. One user fumed: “Why doesn’t this Prime Minister get a grip and send them back to where they came from or an offshore island.

“Anywhere else but not near our towns and cities. Kier Starmer and Yvette Cooper need to start taking drastic action to keep the public sake.” Another penned: “Wow. How many more have we let in with zero documents???? F***ing joke.”

Meanwhile, others were less surprised by the worrying update, with one viewer posting: “No surprise! I’m sure there’s many, many more.” Another agreed: “Deply alarming. Not remotely surprising” as a third echoed: “Alarming, but not surprising.”
