China’s latest budget SUV has hit UK roads, with vehicles set to be thousands of pounds cheaper than a popular Range Rover model.

China’s latest Range Rover “clone” has finally arrived on UK roads, with the new budget SUV sure to provide stiff competition for the British marque. The first UK deliveries of the new Chery Tiggo 9 have been picked up by owners, and customers could soon be scrambling to get their hands on the latest China import to disrupt the market.
From the outside, the Tiggo 9 has been designed to closely emulate the look of a Range Rover Evoque. The two models could almost be a carbon copy, with both vehicles sharing a floating roofline, front grille and super-slim headlights. The similarities between the Chery Tiggo 9 are not just visual, with the two brands part of a 50:50 joint venture established in 2012.

The biggest difference is price, with the Summit trim Tiggo 9 priced from £43,105, just under £20,000 cheaper than a top-end brand new Evoque’s which comes in close to £60,000. Flexible payment options are also available, with drivers able to get behind the wheel for as little as £499 per month.

The Tiggo 9 is fitted with an advanced plug-in hybrid system, balancing electric driving and a vast range. The model is said to be capable of an eye-watering 650 miles, more than 200 miles more than an Evoque with a full tank.
The Tiggo 9 can run 91 miles on pure electric power, with the model fitted with rapid charging capabilities – replenishing its battery from 30-80% in just 18 minutes.

Inside, the Tiggo 9 is fitted with a range of luxuries, including heated and ventilated seating and a premium 14-speaker Sony audio system. The model is also packed with technology, including a 15.6-inch central display, a 540-degree camera and driver assistance tools.
All Chery models also come with a 7-year or 100,000-mile warranty, giving extra peace of mind for motorists considering making the switch.
