The Jeremy Vine Show returned to Channel 5 with a tense row as broadcaster Carole Malone ripped into the Labour Government in a fresh rant about migration. Alongside the show’s titular presenter, she was also joined by Hollyoaks star James Sutton for the furious debate.

As they discussed growing police fears over anticipated summer riots, Carole stated: “We cannot sustain the numbers that are now coming here because of the strain on our housing, our education, and infrastructure, generally. “We cannot afford people coming here in their tens of thousands every year in these countries to swell.” Carole claimed: “We’re going to have the highest migrant population in Europe for the next two years because we have no controls to stop people from coming in.”

To which Jeremy chimed: “I thought being an island meant you did have control,” as he admitted: “This is what I don’t get about our situation.”

In her scathing rant, Carole fumed: “You can control immigration in a heartbeat. You can actually leave the ECHR, you can withdraw from the Refugee Convention of 1951.

“Which means that people coming over illegally, they don’t have the right to claim asylum, we can actually put them in detainment.”

Diverting the debate to James, Jeremy interjected: “That is the next election that Carole’s describing, unless something big happens, James, everything’s going to be about that for the next election.”

The actor said: “This assumes that all migrants are lazy and just come here for an easy life and that’s simply not true,” to which Carole fired back: “Most of them coming here can’t speak English, tell me how they’re going to help.”

James raged: “What’s speaking English got to do with anything? We move to Spain in vast numbers and don’t speak the language.

“They’re more likely to become entrepreneurs, more likely to pay tax,” While the broadcaster slammed: “Oh please, have you seen any film from the Calais Camp. I just saw a piece to days ago these people are not coming here to work, trust me on that.

“They came here illegally here illegally on boats, because they know that the pull factor of Britain. If they stay in France, they get nothing and put in an old warehouse. You come to Britain, you get houses, you get healthcare.”
