Boris Johnson is rumoured to make a huge comeback as the Tory Party’s “trump card” could negatively affect the rise of Reform UK, No.10 insiders warn.

Mr Johnson is said to have “unfinished business” following his Dowing Street departure in 2022, now growing “bored” away from his life in parliament.

The surging wave of Reform is currently posing a major threat to the Conservatives as their membership numbers soar past 200,000. Multiple opinion polls have placed Nigel Farage’s party at the top, with many Brits saying they would vote for him in the next election.

Rumours are now swirling around the corridors of Westminster as insiders hint at the return of Mr Johnson, posing as a “huge threat” to the Clacton MPs party.

Reform UK has previously taken swipes at the former Tory PM with Zia Yusuf, the party’s chairman, labelling him as “one of the most damaging Prime Ministers in this country’s history”.

However, other party figures, such as Treasurer Nick Candy and Dame Andrea Jenkyns, see Mr Johnson as a longtime political ally and a personal friend.

Speaking to GB News, an inside source revealed: “In private, the bigwigs in Reform understand and respect the threat from Boris.

“They are also completely aware that among their voter base and electorate, which is very broad, is a huge make-up of the 2019 Red Wall vote.

“Boris shares goodwill with that group, and many never wanted him to leave and would welcome his potential comeback to the frontline of British politics.”

The political insider explained how Reform UK’s jabs at the former PM should be viewed as a “compliment” because they see him as a “spectre over a core of the electorate.” They believe his comeback could “win” over voters who perhaps left the Conservatives for Reform.

Another ally of Mr Johnson shared with the news channel that Mr Farage makes other politicians look “bland, shifty and pointless” without Mr Johnson in the mix.

However, they said the former Tory PM had more “charisma, connection and vision” than the Reform leader, which could leave them “rightly terrified” of a Johnson comeback.

“MPs will have that Boris trump card in their back pocket, and it could get more and more tempting,” another insider said.

Despite both campaigning for Brexit, Mr Johnson and Mr Farage have been at odds for nearly a decade, sparking curiosity over the political landscape if the former Conservative leader re-entered Parliament.
