BBC fans are calling for a huge Sunday morning shake-up which could see Laura Kuenssberg replaced as host of her politics programme.
Laura Kuenssberg grills Labour minister on defence spending
BBC fans have speculated Laura Kuenssberg’s days could be numbered after blasting her as “biased” – and demanding another host take her place on her eponymous Sunday morning politics programme. Laura has hosted the show since 2022, when she stepped down as Political Editor of BBC News.
Now, though, fans want to see a new face, and have called for Victoria Derbyshire to step into Laura’s shoes. With Laura’s BBC salary in the range of £325,000 to £329,999 for the years 2023-2024, however, it doesn’t seem like the broadcaster is keen to replace her any time soon. Taking to X, one fan demanded: “The BBC need to sack Laura Kuenssberg and replace her with less biased Victoria Derbyshire. Get rid of Fiona Bruce at same time. Please retweet or like if you agree.” So far, the tweet has 5,600 likes and 2,200 retweets, with one fan posting: “Laura is like Fiona Bruce – not impartial.”

Another echoed: “There are numerous other worthy presenters within the BBC who deserve the flagship political slot @BBCNuala @AlexForsythBBC @leilanathoo just to mention 3 who would monster the task and bring back credibility and audience numbers.” While a fourth viewer posted: “I agree with you 100%!”
But somebody else disagreed: “Hilarious that people don’t realise that if the BBC sacked Laura Kuenssberg she would get a similar position at another top media channel. Why? Cause she’s good at what she does. The BBC poached her from a top job at ITV.”

Another naysayer posted: “‘Less biased’? Did you listen to her when she was on Radio 5 with that clown Nicky Campbell?” While another fumed: “Anything to say about the other 99% of BBC journos who all have a left wing bias? Or is that okay?”
The BBC states in its editorial guidelines: “The BBC is committed to achieving due impartiality in all its output. This commitment is fundamental to our reputation, our values and the trust of audiences. The term ‘due’ means that the impartiality must be adequate and appropriate to the output, taking account of the subject and nature of the content, the likely audience expectation and any signposting that may influence that expectation.”
