BBC Breakfast viewers were furious as Nigel Farage was interviewed on Wednesday’s (April 9) instalment of the programme. Presenters Jon Kay and Sarah Campbell spoke to the Reform UK leader ahead of the local elections which are taking place in just over three weeks time. The politician was quizzed about why the British public should vote for his party and whether the results will enable Reform to consider themselves a viable national force in UK politics.
Viewers were less than pleased with the interview as they questioned why the MP wasn’t “challenged” during the broadcast. One wrote: “A ‘partly satirical’ broadcast from Farage there, totally unchallenged by #BBCBreakfast! And local elections are only a couple of weeks away! Just fancy that!” A second agreed: “#nigelfarage let to ramble on + on with no interruptions as #BBCBreakfast gave him a free Party Political Broadcast + way too much credibility.”

Another hit out at the BBC, saying: “Why oh why are you giving airtime to Farage desperately trying to make himself relevant.”
Announcing they were switching off the programme, someone else posted: *Turns off #BBCBreakfast* #NeverFarage #RegressUK.”
A fifth declared: “#BBCBreakfast Farage and Reform have zero ideas or solutions, all they can do is criticise and put down the others.”
However, another viewer disagreed as they responded: “He’s giving a solution right now.”
Later in the interview, Mr Farage repeated his offer to Labour to help negotiate with Donald Trump amid his tariffs. Last week, the US President unveiled sweeping levies in goods entering America from around the world.

The UK found itself subject to a 10% tariff, notably the lowest rate and only half of the 20% imposed on the EU. Mr Farage, who boasts a close relationship with Mr Trump, expressed his eagerness to contribute, citing it as a matter of national interest.
The Clacton MP said: “I’ve said from the start that I have a relationship, not just with President Trump, but half of the cabinet that he’s got are people that I know and in some cases I’ve known for many, many years.”
He reiterated his proposal to the Labour government: “So I’ll repeat the offer that I’ve made to this Government. If they would like me to help with these negotiations I would do it, not because I’m a Labour supporter but because I believe in the national interest.”
The politician added: “The only silver lining at the moment of course is that because of Brexit we got a 10% general tariff as opposed to a 20% one.” There’s a lot more we can do, I’d love to help.”
