Armed police swarm roads near primary school after ‘kidnapping’

Police said two people have been arrested as part of an ongoing investigation.

Armed police swarmed roads in a residential area near a primary school following reports of an alleged kidnapping. Two people, a 47-year-old man and a 39-year-old  woman, have been arrested after the alleged kidnapping of a man in Benfleet, Essex on Wednesday (February 11).

The force are continuing to investigate after it is believed a man in his 20s was kidnapped. Armed police and police dogs rushed to scene with a large emergency presence spotted at the scene. Rows of police cars lined the Essex street.

An Essex Police spokesman said: “Two people have been arrested as part of an ongoing investigation into an alleged kidnap of a man aged in his 20s.

“A 39-year-old woman and a 47-year-old man have since been released on conditional bail. We continue to engage with the victim as we build a picture of the circumstances around the incident.”
