Good Morning Britain star Kevin Maguire has slammed Keir Starmer in a scathing report following the latest news update coming from the Middle East. On Monday morning (March 2), the ITV morning show issues a breaking news report from the Foreign Office, which is drawing up plans for what would be the biggest evacuation in Britain’s history. Air space in the Gulf is currently closed, with an estimated 200,000 Britons currently in the region at the time of writing this article.
After sharing the worrying update, hosts Ed Balls and Susanna Reid welcomed the political journalist onto the show to share his thoughts on the news from overseas. Maguire fumed: “The Prime Minister has now made it our war, which I think is really dangerous and and escalation, and I’d like to see the legal advice before and after.
“I remember Iraq in 2003, when the attorney general’s advice was that it would be illegal without a UN resolution, and then the attorney general was leaned on and produced legal advice saying, ‘It would be legal without a UN resolution’.
“So, I think it’s really concerning; it’s an escalation. I think it’ll be very difficult for him politically. I think this war’s going to be unpopular at home; it’s unpopular in the United States, where very few Americans are supporting Trump. So I think the Prime Minister’s made a very bad call there.”
On Sunday (March 1), Keir Starmer urged Britons in areas targeted by Iranian strikes to register with the Foreign Office to receive advice, and about 94,000 have done so so far. More than 50,000 of those are believed to be in the United Arab Emirates, and most are holidaymakers or other travellers rather than residents, with Dubai a major tourist and business destination.
Its airspace is currently closed, leaving tourists without a way home. Travel advice from the Foreign Office warns Britons from any travel to Iran, Israel and Palestine. It also advises against all but essential travel to the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain, and urges avoiding travel to some parts of Pakistan.

British nationals in Saudi Arabia are advised to stay at home, while Britons in Jordan, Oman, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen and Iraq are advised to take any and all precautions due to the heightened regional tensions across the Middle East.
Hotels in Dubai have been directed that stranded tourists are not to be evicted from their rooms under any circumstances, which is likely to be welcome relief for stranded Brits in the United Arab Emirates.
Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism issued an email directive to hotel providers across the city, with the instruction that all necessary support must be extended to any tourists impacted by the flight cancellations or delays in the wake of mass flight disruptions in the Middle East as conflict between the US and Iran continues.
The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority also announced that the UAE will cover all costs of those stranded in the crisis, and will cover sustenance and accommodation costs for tourists left in limbo.
