Alan Carr’s popular home renovation programme with friend Amanda Holden appears to have been shelved – by Alan himself. The comedian, 49,  recently signed a deal with Disney+ to create a similar show, focusing on the restoration of a Scottish castle, which suggests he won’t be able to continue with The Italian Job series. He has been in high demand following his triumph on The Celebrity Traitors. The star has landed jobs on two other streaming platforms starting this year and has booked out most of 2027 for an extensive stand-up tour.

Furthermore, it’s believed that his contract with Disney+ includes a competition clause, preventing him from participating in shows similar to Castle Man elsewhere. “Alan and Amanda were already discussing taking a break from their renovation shows,” an insider told The Sun. “Both their schedules are packed and the series takes weeks to film. Even though they’ve also been considering where they could film next.

“But recent developments mean it’s going to be virtually impossible to resume the show anytime soon, particularly if the home renovation project on Disney+ is a success for Alan.”

Fortunately, there’s no bad blood between Alan and Amanda over this new development, especially as Netflix is about to announce a show the duo have been working on for months.

It comes as Alan is reportedly set to front a fresh series for Prime Video called The F**k It List. The programme will see him joined by fellow comedians including Jack Dee, Tom Allen and Joanne McNally as they embark on a road trip to tick off various “try before you die” experiences.

Earlier this week, Joanne posted an enticing snapshot on Instagram showing herself alongside Alan during production. “This is huge news for Alan who everyone thought would be snapped up by the Beeb after The Celebrity Traitors,” a source revealed.

“But now he has been signed up for a show with Disney, another with Prime Video and he already has a third in the pipeline with Netflix. Plus, he’s currently riding high thanks to the success of Secret Genius on Channel 4. It seems telly bosses can’t get enough of him – and the Beeb can hardly get any of him.”

The four-episode road trip programme will feature the comics travelling to Iceland and the Canary Islands, alongside destinations in England and Scotland, throughout their unconventional escapades.

When it launches later this year, the series will expose Alan to a truly worldwide viewership. The comedian recently hinted at his increased appeal amongst television executives in the wake of his Traitors victory three months ago.

Alan revealed: “I’ve got streamers and stuff that I never knew I was on the radar of. But really, you know, job offers are flooding in.”
