COMMENT: Keir Starmer’s attempts to cosy up to EU branded “red herring” by Tory MP backing Express’s Brexit crusade.

Labour is going to take us back into the EU by the back door, Brexiteers need to assemble.
As Labour drives our economy into the ground, weakens our national security and fails to control our borders, it is becoming ever clearer that Sir Keir Starmer will use re-entry into the EU as a red herring to distract us from his government’s abject failures.
We saw this week when Rachel Reeves met with senior Eurocrat Valdis Dombrovskis. The European Commissioner for Finance would like nothing more than for Sir Keir to come begging for our re-entry into the EU’s orbit, perhaps even into the dreaded Customs Union.
This would be disastrous for Britain, and it’s the reason why today I am writing in support of the Daily Express’ Brexit crusade.
Ten years on from that historic vote, Brexiteers need to assemble and take the fight to those that are seeking to once more bind us to Brussels. We must stand up for the freedoms Brexit delivered.
As a former board member of Vote Leave, I travelled up and down the country fighting for the cause. I met thousands of people who all shared the same ambition: to take back control. We were united in our belief that parliament should be sovereign. After decades of sleepwalking ever closer to being part of a European super state, we knew it was in the national interest to have control of our laws, money and borders.
I am in no doubt that this is more important than ever. In an increasingly volatile world, it is paramount that our sovereign parliament can take decisions in the national interest.
The importance of this showed last spring when the UK was given a fairer deal than Europe in relation to President Trump’s tariffs on motor vehicles. It’s no exaggeration when I say the people’s decision to take back control helped secure the future of the automotive industry in the West Midlands saving thousands of jobs in my constituency.
However, I fear our ability to decide our own fate is at risk under Labour. I am more convinced than ever that they are determined to take us back into the EU. It won’t be a quick process, it will be by stealth. They’ll talk about things like dynamic alignment which in reality means capitulating to the unelected bureaucrats in Brussels.
We need to get off this dangerous path. The Express are right to push for a proper Brexit.
Red tape needs to be slashed to help get the economy growing. Our waters need to be protected to help revitalise our fishing industry and we should leave the ECHR to help end vexatious legal claims by left-wing immigration lawyers.
Those that are committed to the vision of Brexit need to unite. The battle for Brexit might be over, but the fight for freedom against this weak Labour government continues.
That is why I am 110% behind the Express’s campaign.
Brexiteers, we must rally.
