Yvette Cooper MP appeared on Good Morning Britain on Thursday (January 22), with Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley announcing they would be talking to her about the deal over Greenland discussed between President Trump and NATO. Susanna said to the Foreign Secretary that it appears to the public that nobody knows what has been agreed. Cooper responded: “NATO is an alliance of countries, my understanding of what has been agreed now is that NATO countries can now work together on this framework.

“This is something that we have been arguing for, the US were not signed up to that, my understanding is that now that agreement has been reached.” Susanna asked if it was a “total climbdown” from President Trump, and Cooper simply responded that they had always made it clear they had “strongly disagreed” with President Trump.

But viewers at home noticed that she didn’t provide any information on what the deal consisted off, with furious fans claiming she was “clueless”.

As the GMB X page shared a clip, one user responded: “Yvette Cooper knows asolutely nothing.” While another fumed: “Another waste of an MP, clueless.” A third fumed: “Absolute shambles. Pathetic Foreign Office minister who hasn’t got a clue what’s going on.”

Another viewer stated: “Yvette Cooper would’ve done better by avoiding any interviews until more of the details of ‘the deal’ came out.” While another added: “Yvette Cooper has no idea what is going on with Trump or Greenland. Labour haven’t been told anything.”

The discussion came after Trump announced he was dropping his threats to place tariffs on the UK and other European allies after an agreement with NATO.

It was mere days ago that Trump threatened to impose a 10% tariff on the UK from February 1 which would increase to 25% from June 1 until a deal was reached over Greenland.

Taking to his Truth Social platform, he wrote: “Based upon a very productive meeting that I have had with the Secretary General of NATO, Mark Rutte, we have formed the framework of a future deal with respect to Greenland and, in fact, the entire Arctic region. This solution, if consummated, will be a great one for the United States of America and all NATO nations.

“Based upon this understanding, I will not be imposing the tariffs that were scheduled to go into effect on February 1st.” He explained that further information would be shared as deals progress.
