Trump faces impeachment threat as US president accused of being ‘mentally unwell’

Donald Trump has always denied claims that he is suffering from health issues.

Democrats are launching a new effort to impeach Donald Trump as they claim the president is “mentally unwell.” Insisting the US president is “putting all of our lives at risk”  Congresswoman Yassamin Ansari, Representative for Arizona’s Third Congressional District, issued a scathing attack on X.

Congresswoman Ansari said: “The president of the United States is extremely mentally ill and it’s putting all of our lives at risk. The 25th Amendment exists for a reason—we need to invoke it immediately.” The tweet prompted thousands of comments, one X user said: “Him and the rest of his administration need to be impeached and removed.”

The Express has gone to the White House for comment.

“Does anyone else think that you shouldn’t be allowed to candidate for Presidency after the age of 65?”, added a second.

Another simply said: “They aren’t even trying to hide the mental illness anymore.”

Health fears surrounding Trump intensified further after Congresswoman Kamlager-Dove said: “Donald Trump is unfit to lead and clearly out of control. Invoke the 25th Amendment.”

The 25th Amendment to the US Constitution lays out the rules of succession for the presidential office and those for presidential disability or removal.

The first two sections of the amendment confirm that if the president vacates office due to death, removal or resignation then the vice president is next in line to takeover.

The president has constantly and passionately denied any claims that he is in anything but tip-top shape, even releasing the results of a medical exam and MRI test, claiming he had “as good a result as they’ve ever seen.”

After a New York Times article looked into his health, Trump posted a furious reply online: “After all of the work I have done with Medical Exams, Cognitive Exams, and everything else, I actually believe it’s seditious, perhaps even treasonous, for The New York Times, and others, to consistently do FAKE reports in order to libel and demean ‘THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES.”

Senator Ed Markey, D-Massachusetts and Representative Sydney Kamlager-Dove, D-California also called for the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office to be evoked after the president said his plan to take over Greenland was motivated by being snubbed for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Mr Trump told the prime minister of Norway in a letter that, in retribution for not receiving the award, “I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of peace” and would consider “what is good and proper for the United States of America”.
