A gathering believed to be a protest reportedly turned violent on Tuesday evening (January 20).
The gathering took place on Wilmslow Road, known locally at the Curry Mile, in Rusholme on yesteday evening. According to the Manchester Evening News people attended as part of a “protest” in relation to the Syrian conflict opposing government troops and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces.
Clips circulating on social media showed cars having their windows smashed amid shouting on the street. Wilmslow Road was blocked off, and buses into the city centre were diverted.
The Daily Express has contacted Greater Manchester Police for information.
