Brooklyn Beckham‘s explosive statement regarding his family rift is already facing scrutiny after a number of claims he made have prompted questions from those familiar with the situation. During his Instagram outburst, the aspiring chef alleged his mother, Victoria, had left his wife, Nicola Peltz, devastated by withdrawing from designing her wedding dress at the “eleventh hour”. Brooklyn informed followers in a candid post that Victoria had pulled out of creating Nicola’s bridal gown for their £2.3million wedding, forcing her to “urgently find a new dress” to wear.
“My parents have been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn’t stopped,” Brooklyn declared. “My mum cancelled making Nicola’s dress in the eleventh hour despite how excited she was to wear her design, forcing her to urgently find a new dress.”
However, in a resurfaced interview with Vogue, bridal stylist Leslie Fremar stated that the dress Nicola eventually wore took a year to create. According to the piece, published in April 2022, the bespoke wedding ensemble was “the culmination of a year’s worth of conversations with Valentino director Pierpaolo Piccioli’s team”, reports the Mirror.

Throughout this period, there were two visits to Rome to see Valentino’s headquarters and two fittings in the US.
The article also featured Nicola, who described it as a “no brainer” to approach Valentino director Pierpaolo for the dress. It was noted that he was her “first port of call”.
The long-running rift between Brooklyn and his parents was rumoured to have stemmed from controversy surrounding Nicola’s wedding gown. However, it was suggested that Nicola had declined to wear one of Victoria’s creations, rather than Victoria withdrawing at the last moment.
At the time, Nicola dismissed claims of a “feud” and clarified that the choice not to wear a Victoria Beckham dress was due to the atelier not having sufficient time to create it. “No family is perfect,” she said.

Nicola herself has contradicted the assertion about Victoria’s “eleventh hour” decision. In 2022, she told Grazia USA that it was merely “a few days” between Victoria agreeing to make the dress and then saying she could not do it.
“We connected to start designing the dress, and then a few days went by and I didn’t hear anything. Victoria called my mom and said her atelier couldn’t make it,” she said. Consequently, she opted to wear Valentino instead.
On the day itself, Victoria wore a dress she designed, as did four of her friends, including Eva Longoria, and her mother, Jackie Adams.
