GB News guest and radio presenter Cristo Foufas hit out at Keir Starmer on Sunday’s instalment of the programme, which was hosted by Anne Diamond and Stephen Dixon, when discussing how UK politicians have been condemning Donald Trump‘s tariff plans over Greenland. It comes after the US leader announced the UK and other European nations will be slapped with a 10 per cent tariff on “any and all goods” sent to the US from the start of February until a deal is reached to purchase Greenland. Trump stated these tariffs will stay in effect until a “deal is reached for the complete and total purchase of Greenland”, as he said they will increase to 25 per cent on June 1.

Reflecting on the issue, Foufas bluntly stated: “I think Keir Starmer is one of, if not the worst, Prime Ministers we’ve ever had. However, he seems to have a quite good relationship with Donald Trump.

“Now Starmer has condemned it, saying these tariffs are completely wrong, let’s make no bones about it. This would not be good for the United Kingdom. Tariffs are not a good thing – but what does Keir Starmer do from here?”

He went on to say he doesn’t “have faith Starmer is the right man to do this” and does not feel Starmer or Europe “has the strength” to fight against the President’s proposed tariffs.

Diamond asked: “Is there a danger with his coalition of the willing that if he decides to stand up to President Trump, he could turn round and find no one behind him?”

The broadcaster replied: “What can they do, whether they stand with him or not? Are we going to say we are turning our back on America? No, that’s not going to happen. This has exposed the delicacy and the weakness of Europe, of NATO, of all of those places.”

He added: “I don’t think Europe, either individually or as a group, has the strength to stand up to [Trump].”

Starmer has labelled the tariffs as “completely wrong”, saying in a statement: “Our position on Greenland is very clear – it is part of the Kingdom of Denmark and its future is a matter for the Greenlanders and the Danes.”
