A glitzy London hotel has launched an investigation after diners were shocked to spot a mouse running around under their feet during afternoon tea. The rodent was spotted by customers splashing out on the traditional English custom at the Ritz Hotel in Mayfair on Saturday, January 11. One diner realised something was wrong when they noticed others lifting their legs nervously and staff searching for something under the tables.
They first glimpsed the mouse at around 8.30pm, but it evaded capture and a farcical game of chase ensued. Guests said the hunt lasted for around an hour, during which time the mouse was spotted just three times.

“I was so surprised,” one diner told SWNS. “Everyone felt very anxious. You pay a premium for this experience.
“It was a real treat for us. We’d been looking forward to it for ages.”
Afternoon tea at the Ritz offers signature-blend tea and live piano music alongside traditional finger sandwiches, scones and pastries during five sittings each day.
The luxury experience sets adults back £95 each and costs £73 per child.
A spokesperson for the Ritz said: “The Ritz Hotel takes matters of this nature extremely seriously and is conducting a full investigation.
“Our commitment is to ensure the safety and comfort of our guests and colleagues.”
