A high street jeweller is on the brink of collapse after filing to appoint an administrator. The family-run business has been operating for almost 50 years and sells everything from designer watches to engagement rings.
CW Sellors, which runs five shops in Ashbourne, Bakewell, Matlock, Shrewsbury and Whitby, has built a reputation for providing quality jewellery over the last 47 years. However, the future of the independent brand is now uncertain after bosses filed a formal notice of intention to appoint administrators on Monday (January 12). They now have just 10 days to find an investor or new buyer to rescue the business.
As reported by The Sun, CW Sellors has insisted it remains “fully operational” for the time being. They are continuing to serve customers in their stores and online.
The company sells a range of Swiss luxury watches, contemporary jewellery and luxury brands. They also offer a personalised shopping experience, with their specialists on hand to support customers.
CW Sellors is still taking bookings for its personalised appointments. Customers can also still arrange private viewings either in-store or through online calls.
CW Sellors says on its website: “Established in 1979, C W Sellors Jewellers is a leading UK fine jewellery and luxury watch specialist.

“A family-run independent jewellery retailer with over 40 years experience, designing and crafting the finest quality diamond and gemstone jewellery. Our dedicated team of jewellery specialists are passionate about producing fine diamond and precious gemstone jewellery, including a beautiful selection of engagement rings, wedding rings and eternity rings.”
It adds: “We offer a fully professional bespoke jewellery design service, with an experienced team of jewellery designers, master goldsmiths, and diamond specialists. Explore exclusive collections of British gemstone jewellery, incorporating Derbyshire Blue John and Whitby Jet.”
The potential collapse of CW Sellors comes after a number of British companies have fallen into administration in recent times. Jhoots Pharmacy plunged into administration after reporting a £5million loss while Merit Holdings, an offsite construction firm, collapsed after leaving subcontractors and suppliers exposed to £17.4million in unpaid bills.
CW Sellors has been contacted for comment.
