Joshua travelled to Nigeria in the aftermath of his fight with Jake Paul, which took place at the Kaseya Center in Miami on December 19.
That bout saw the Briton return to the ring for the first time in 15 months following his defeat to Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium.
Joshua was the overwhelming favourite to defeat Paul, who previously fought heavyweight legend Mike Tyson. And the Watford-born boxer ultimately came out on top after knocking out the American in the sixth round.
He then explained after the fight: “It wasn’t the best performance. The end goal was to get Jake Paul, pin him down and hurt him.
“That has been the request leading up, and that’s what was on my mind. It took a bit longer than expected, but the right hand finally found the destination.”
And the veteran fighter added: “Jake Paul, he’s done really well tonight. I want to give him his props. He got up time and time again. It was difficult in there for him, but he kept on trying to find a way.
“It takes a real man to do that. Anyone who laces up these gloves, we always say we give them our respect. We have to give Jake his respect for trying and trying and trying. Well done.”
